TWO PROJECTS, ONE GOAL

A Specific Purpose Excise Tax (SPET) is a sales and use tax that is voted in for a specified amount for specific projects. When the stated amount is accumulated, the collection of the SPET will be terminated. Such a tax will be on the Sublette County ballot on November 4 and the proposed tax pertains to two projects: a Recreation Center for the Big Piney/Marbleton area and a Community Center for Pinedale and the surrounding communities. Both are projected to cost about $20 million. Ten million has been added to each project for an endowment to help fund operation and maintenance budgets in the future. The goal for both facilities is to address the many needs of our growing communities.

BIG PINEY/MARBLETON REC CENTER:

The proposed Big Piney/Marbleton Recreation will be a multi-dimensional facility for both young and old. It will feature two gymnasiums, a rock climbing wall, a suspended walking track, meeting spaces, a teen area and a bowling alley among many other features. It will also address numerous needs of a dynamically growing community. >> CLICK HERE TO LEARN MORE

PINEDALE COMMUNITY CENTER:

The proposed Pinedale Community Center is also a multi-use facility which caters to young and old and meets the needs of a growing community. This facility will provide both basic community and after school needs and will feature multi-purpose class rooms, studio space, gallery space, meeting rooms and an outdoor amphitheater. >> CLICK HERE TO LEARN MORE

SO WHAT WILL IT COST ME?:

The issue will be a 1% tax, or one cent on a dollar. If you purchase $1,000 worth of TAXABLE goods within the county you will pay an additional $10 (1%) more in taxes than what you currently do. Food and gasoline WOULD NOT be taxed. According to 2007 figures, one cent raised $18,000,000 - so, $60 million could easily be raised in four years of less. All of the tax monies stay in the county. >> MORE QUESTIONS? CLICK HERE
