PINEDALE COMMUNITY CENTER

After a grass-roots campaign by a group of Pinedale citizens, the Sublette County commissioners funded a preliminary study by Carney Architects to provide drawings for a facility that included space for needed programs that were identified through the studies and to determine a cost estimate.

This project, dubbed the Pinedale Community Center, is a multidimensional facility which provides both basic community and after school needs as well as the needs of budding artist and arts programming in Sublette County.  Included in the plans are multi-purpose classrooms for students and adults and after school programs, multi-purpose studio space for adults and students for visual arts classes and workshops, a gallery space for traveling and local exhibits of all kinds, several small meeting spaces and one large meeting space. There is a catering kitchen included to service the banquet area (weddings, etc.) and office space.

The large meeting/conference space is big enough to hold 700 people for meetings and social gatherings and 400 at tables in a banquet setting. It can be broken down into 3 smaller spaces. This same large space doubles as a theater space that can seat 250 in moveable theater seats.

An outdoor amphitheater and a patio area are included for summer activities. It is estimated to cost $19,971,679. If the tax issue passes an architect will be hired to do a final design and construction would start in the fall of 2009 or the spring of 2010. Most importantly, included in the cost is an established endowment which means that an initial investment helps provide organizational funding for the future.
